Does Paula's choice BHA help with blackheads? whiteheads? scars?
In this post, I am going to review the Paula's Choice SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant after using it for a week and will also provide info on how to order it in India.
So after hearing all the hype about this product and personally struggling with acne prone combination skin I decided to order it. First let me give you a background on my skin type and issues.
MY SKIN:
Acne-prone, usually get stress acne and also struggle with hormonal acne all year round. Most affected areas are my nose - filled with both whiteheads and blackheads, my chin - breaks out all the time with acne and has a lottt of whiteheads and of course my cheeks.
WHY I BOUGHT THIS?
Because I wanted to get rid of my whiteheads and blackheads. I had heard about chemical exfoliators and how they could be the only way to get rid of BLACKHEADS!
MY EXPERIENCE with PAULA'S CHOICE BHA?
So, I ordered the travel size bottle because I just wanted to first test it out if it works on my skin and also because that shit is costly. I started using it daily every NIGHT. Remember to use it only during the night time when you are just starting it. And you cannot step out in the sun without a sunscreen if you use this thing daily since it reacts chemically and may cause you skin issues. SO BE VERY CAREFUL!
I used it after cleansing my face. Sometimes I used a toner and used this BHA on top of it and some days when I was feeling lazy, I just used it directly on my face after cleansing. Also, I didn't use any cotton pad, just took the liquid on my palm and applied it on my face with my fingers. AND THAT"S WHERE I MADE A MISTAKE? I GUESS!
So I noticed a hugeee difference on the first day itself. I remember that I was applying it near my nose and by the time I moved to my cheeks, the whiteheads and pimples started bursting out and oozing the white stuff on their own.. eww gross I know. But that meant it was working. It definitely made my skin look more smooth and sometimes glowy. My breakouts were reduced because of the active salicylic acid, I think.
However, there was no difference in the blackheads, it was working okayish on whiteheads on my nose. Hardly any difference for whiteheads on my chin. Didn't do much for my acne scars. But all this is ofcourse after using it for like a week to 10 days.
WHY I STOPPED USING IT?
Because my whiteheads were not ready to go I started applying this generously on my nose due to which my nose started flaking. Maybe it was exfoliating too much and at some places I overused it I think. I realized this was because of my overuse because the area on my palm where I was holding the liquid while applying also started to peel off. AND I GOT SHIT SCARED!! I realized that this is actually a chemical and not something to play with. So I have stopped using it for a while, at least till the time my flaky skin recovers and after that I may start to use it once a week or something like that.
So yeah, this was my overall experience for now. I don't swear by this product as of now, but definitely think it is good for acne prone skin people who break out every now and then. It helps control it a bit. Won't guarantee you a clear smooth skin but may help you reach there provided you incorporate it in your skincare routine with other products and use it for a longer duration.
HOW TO BUY IN INDIA?
If you go to Paula's choice's official website, it will redirect you to Amazon India where they have a partner which distributes the product in India. That's how you will know that it is the original one. If you still don't get it, just follow the below link to buy.
Tip: Buy the travel size first to test, it comes for Rs. 900.
I hope this review gives you an idea of what the product is like and hopefully helps you get one step close to the clear glass-like skin that we all dream of!
